Bir Advances Smart City Infrastructure and Cross-Platform Interoperability in Latest Monthly Update

Bir ecosystem concluded the past month with a series of strategic product deployments designed to optimize the consumer journey. From advancing open-loop transit systems to expanding digital payment architecture, the ecosystem's leading brands continue to deliver high-value, frictionless experiences across multiple business verticals.

Pioneering Open-Loop Urban Mobility

Spearheaded by Birbank’s technological architecture and in partnership with BakıKart, a new era of public transit has launched in the Baku Metro. Commuters can now pay transit fares using any bank's NFC-enabled contactless card. This open-loop integration eliminates exclusivity, allowing customers from the entire banking sector to benefit from the infrastructure. Furthermore, the system seamlessly supports global wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, alongside domestic solutions like the Birbank, BakıKart, and m10 apps, granting users ultimate flexibility. Following this successful deployment, the NFC transit system is slated for an imminent rollout across all route buses.

Expanding the Cross-Platform Loyalty Loop (Bir Bonus x Yango)

To maximize consumer purchasing power, the Bir ecosystem is aggressively scaling its partner network. In a major integration, Bir Bonus users can now redeem their accumulated loyalty points to pay for ride-hailing services via Yango. By simply registering in the Yango app using their Bir ID, users activate their bonus cabinet and can cover up to 90% of their ride fare using points. With a transparent 1:1 peg (1 Bir Bonus = 1 AZN) and real-time balance tracking directly within the Yango app, this partnership significantly widens the utility of ecosystem rewards, driving high-frequency, everyday engagement.

Frictionless E-Commerce Checkout

To reduce cart abandonment and optimize the user experience, the Birmarket e-commerce platform has achieved a new level of payment convenience. The platform has officially integrated Apple Pay and Google Pay, allowing shoppers to complete transactions instantly without the friction of manually entering bank card details.

Driving User Engagement Through Digital Voting

Diversifying its utility beyond pure finance, the m10 e-wallet introduced a new digital voting feature, gamifying the user experience. Launched in collaboration with the "Kəlmə-kəlməyə" (Word by Word) project, this feature inaugurates a new era in the entertainment sector, allowing fans of spoken word and music to seamlessly cast votes and support their favorite participants directly through the m10 app.

Uninterrupted Transactions with Tokenized Payments

Further enhancing the agility of the m10 platform, a new "Zero-Balance Fallback" feature has been deployed. Users can now execute payments and peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers directly from a securely saved (tokenized) bank card within the app. This ensures that even if a user's m10 wallet balance is low or zero, their transaction flow remains completely uninterrupted.
